Why photographic fine art? Because AI won't show you a moment in a way you didn't yet know would captivate you. Only the human imagination can conjure up something that breathtaking. It takes an eye for detail to capture fleeting slivers of time. My work cannot be seen as 'better' or 'worse' than other pieces of art. If you're purchasing one of my photographs it is because you see value in how I interpret the world. It's tasteful imperfection that connects art to humanity. Perfection has no soul.

I am not a Photographer

I am a storyteller who uses a language that transcends social boundaries

This is the 4th evolution of my work since 2022. It has taught me that my purpose lies in what I can bring to others, by sharing my journey with them. Perhaps I would be helping someone in their own journey.

My work currently focuses more on surf and ocean photography, fine art and documentary/street photography and filmmaking.

However, the older parts of my portfolio and service offering taught me valuable skills, that can never be taken away and are all a part of my journey.

The last of the images from our Cape Town trip two weeks back. At least one of these will make the cut as a fine art print.

These were shot on a very windy hillside overlooking Llandudno Beach. The last of the days light illuminated the clouds flowing down the mountains near Hout Bay. What grabbed my eye and warranted the stop was how low the clouds hung over the ocean.

I thought the couple having drinks whilst watching the sunset (bottom left of the first image) added a nice bit of interest too. Tells the story of what so many people in Cape Town do at places like this at sunset. 🌅

I select very few images for print. They must have something special about them that just elevates them that bit beyond being a ‘nice photo’. Still think it’s a great image though 😁

Tapestry: A story of Generational Trauma

This has been my first venture into story building, narrative construction and short-film making.

It was a zero-budget project, so the footage is a mix of stock footage and content that I filmed and edited. The primary focus was on the story and the message rather than the visuals.

I urge you to read the description on YouTube beneath the video. I explain a lot of the constraints and introduce the storytelling aspects I focused on.

I’m hopefully going to get around to sharing tutorials/mentorship videos that explain how I went about developing the story, telling it on-screen and building mood/emotional connection with the content.

Hopefully what I learned will help somone in their filmmaking journey and maybe even career, who knows.
